The one after the one before new year :)

Hello everyone, sorry to be a pest, but our video camera had a wobbly after mummy came back from Melb. (mummy went down for 24hrs, for a funeral a couple of weeks ago) and when she got back, we had to send the camera away to be fixed - there were some shots on there we wanted to share and have just got the camera back so here goes...........
Pete picked mummy up from the airport at midnight, in this classic 57 Chev which he and Deb are going to do up - It rocked big time !!!! They tried to hide my baby under a sheet but I got to touch it!! I doooo so love that car :)
this is Poombah who lives on the property across from Pete & Deb - he is soo cute! He keeps the foxes away from the sheep - cool huh?
This is my best bro and my best friend making sure I really did get on the plane and didn't stay around to cause them trouble.
Bubba in his new bob the builder raincoat for the first time..........
Hands up who thinks it may be a tad too big? He loves it!!
Daddy making bubby laugh by causing teddy to crash down on the floor.
Mummy's trip to Melb although sad, was a great bonding time for both Pete and mummy so something really positive came out of it - they spent more time together than they had in years and had a great time just doing "stuff" - so that's it! Cheers! xoxoxoxo

The one before New years

Hello everyone, I hope your xmas was wonderfull, relaxing and exactly how you wanted it to be. We had a really lovely xmas, even though we had lots of cooking to do, we started 3 days before so when the time came, most of it was done. We got to spend lots of time enjoying the company of our Cairns family, ate lots, drank lots and everyone helped out where they could. All of xmas was spent outside as it was hot hot hot! Mummy did up the table and decorated everything in a suitably festive tone. She even did a centrepiece (look out Martha Stewart!!) :) Christmas eve we had roast beef, and vegies, with a scrummy potato bake cooked by Marisol, and afterwards we had a chrismas ice cream cake thing that we made - Yum!
Joining Mummy and Daddy for dinner were Mark (aka santa), Scott, Shane, Marisol, and Debbie. Jazz and I had ours early.

Chrismas morning I had 3 special presents to open, I had already got my swing set and trampoline early! The first one I opened was from my Auntie Susan and Uncle John, it was a really cute teddy with a marines sweatshirt, I take him to bed with me for all my sleeps, and have called him new bear until we can think of a name for him.
My next present was from my Auntie Big ears, it was a housekeeping trolley, with heaps of cleaning stuff on it, I tear around the house with it doing "keening" and now Mummy can leave the brush and shovel out without me stealing it all the time. I pretend to polish the furniture and do lots of sweeping. I did, however, pull all the yellow wool out of the mop and the bits are now "noodles" which I feed to mummy and daddy. Mummy was quite tickled by this.
THEN........I opened my last one which was from my Grunk. It was the new tickle me elmo, it cracks everyone up when I play with it, he rolls around and slaps the floor, he is very very funny. Here I am ripping off some paper.
Daddy bought Mummy an ipod, mummy nearly fell off the couch! She really really wanted one but didn't want to ask for one - clever daddy! Mummy bought daddy a remote control tank, he really really wanted one too - clever mummy! Before daddy could have his present though, mummy set up a treasure hunt so daddy had to work out the clues to find the next clue - there were 20 clues and it took daddy an hour to find them all, he did very well and eventually found his present under my cot.

We had Marisol, Jazz and Debbie here for christmas day lunch, which was a crunchy vegetable and noodle salad, fresh prawns with dipping sauces, and spicey prawns with a cucumber sambal. Jazz and I got to open our presents to each other and the adults did theirs as well, we all got spoiled and had a lovely time in all the paper.

It was really really hot and after we had our lunch, Jazz and I got into the little swimming pool and had ice blocks, while the adults slugged at the table.

Marisol had to go to work then and Shane arrived, along with Scott, they stayed for dinner which was roast turkey and veg and was supposed to be followed by plum pudding and brandy custard, but no one could face anymore food. In between all these meals, we had made dips and had shortbread, mince pies, nuts the list went on and on. I also made a slice that never made it out of the fridge for fear we may all pop. We migrated to the lounge to finish off our celebrations watching The life of Brian. One by one everyone fell asleep, some made it to beds, others stayed where they were.

Boxing day was get rid of leftovers day (wasn't it for everyone?) Bruce and Scott came over for a cold meat and salad dinner, where we managed to fit in one more bottle of champagne, a bottle of chardy and some other wine we had in the fridge. We had a lovely time catching up, we hadn't seen Bruce for ages. For those of you who know him, he looks really well and seems very happy. Considering all the food we had, we judged it just right, there was no food wasted, we planned it really well. (pats on the back for us - I hate wasting food)

I have had some lovely e-mails from some of you and promise when I get a spare week I will answer them all :) We are heading down to Lismore/Brisbane on the 7th January to visit Damians family and friends and will be back in Cairns on the 15th. We are spending new years eve with Shane, Marisol, Debbie and Jazz, we are having an early dinner, and will watch the fireworks on the esplinade before (probably) going back to the Mathewsis to put the kids to bed and have a card/game sesh. Shane (who is a cheater) has to work N.Y day so we'll see how he feels.

We all hope that you have a fantastic new years eve and stay safe and happy into 2007. Mummy is reminding those of you who are joining the 2007 challenge (or would like to) that there are only 2 more sleeps to go!!! So drink/eat/ party hard kids! Love and hugs and skishes - Kylin Jett xoxoxox

The one before christmas

Hello again everyone, hope you are all happy and well. Here's what I have been up to lately.
We went to have dinner with Filiz & Richard recently and I got to play trains with Ollie and Finlay which I just loved!! We all played very nicely together and wore each other out running around, and I went down to sleep without a peep.

We all had a really lovely night, dinner was absolutely delish and the Mortimers "special thing" was brought out in out honour.
The Saturday BBQs are becoming quite the event to attend, with even the most party weary folk struggling with the early hour, to participate with us. Jazzmin and I are here waiting for another helicopter and spotting imaginary frogs.
Here is my luscious mother in law to be, giving me a squish. It has got quite hot even early in the mornings here so mummy and I usually head straight for the lagoon pool for a swim until breakky is ready. They have aqua aerobics on when we get there, and I entertain the class inspecting the amplifyer trying to work out where the person is.

Suzanne and Nic came to stay with us for a long weekend, Nic's mum and dad looked after their kids, and Nic was soooo patient with me as I attached myself to his shadow repeating "goodmorning Nic" over and over and Nic replied every single time like it was the first time. They all went out to La Fett for dinner with about 10 other people - Nic & Sooz hadn't been here for 4 years and have been hanging out to have another meal here. Just like old times, they headed off to the chapel and dived head first into the long island iced teas. I will just leave it at that - needless to say, they all had a fantastic night. I stayed overnight with Vanessa and got to sleep in Erins room! We were all supposed to meet in town for breakky but didn't quite make it, so everyone came here instead and we had a fab bbq breaky with everyone bringing something to contribute. The weekend was filled with great food, wine, friends and lots of chances for mummy and Sooz to catch up - it was perfect.

We had another visitor from the animal world recently, it's called a stag beetle and was over 13cm long. Aparently they wont hurt you, (unless you annoy it) despite the fact it has 3 sets of pincers arranged shark like, that it seems to want to use to attach itself to you. Friendly as that might seem, mummy politely declined it's advances and captured it instead.

We have put up our chrismas tree and all the decorations, I am obsessed with the magic flashing chrismas lights and am very good at not touching anything on the tree. Mummy is very excited about having chrismas at home this year. Shane Marisol & Jazz are spending christmas eve with us, and are sleeping over so Jazz and I can open our presents together on christmas morning. Scott should be back either xmas eve or xmas day and will be with us too. Mark will be popping in at some stage on xmas day - probably only able to see from one eye having made the rounds. We are having a seafood lunch and roast turkey dinner on xmas day so by boxing day we will all be unable to move.

I hope you all have a very happy christmas with people you love and you all make it safely through the madness in the shops and the traffic beforehand. Guess what?? I just loved santa this year! Big kisses and hugs to you all - Kylin Jett. xoxoxo

Just cause I need some sillyness

King Arthur: The Lady of the Lake, her arm clad in the purest shimmering samite held aloft Excalibur from the bosom of the water, signifying by divine providence that I, Arthur, was to carry Excalibur. THAT is why I am your king.
Dennis: [interrupting] Listen, strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
If I went 'round sayin' I was Emperor, just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away.

My fab Xmas present - OK it's a little early

My Nanny and Grandpa in Melb. helped mummy and daddy pay off this swing set for me for xmas. We were supposed to wait and put it up then, but mummy and daddy couldn't wait, I won't know the difference anyway. I just love it and want to go and play on it as soon as I wake up. I am here with Jazz who gave me lots of confidence because I was a little scared of it all at first. But once we had been on it for a while, I loved it and have learned to say "stop please" when the swinging gets too much.
My "geen swing" rocks and I will be exploring the other bits of it in time.
Love and kisses - Kylin xoxoxoxo

Our adventure to Port Douglas

Hello everyone, we have been having a fab time cruising around in our new car, it's so easy to drive, it practically drives itself! This is daddy on our way to port. (he DOES have clothes on - it just doesn't look like it) We stayed at the Radisson treetops and I went ballistic when I saw our room. I was straight up on the big bed for a bouncing test, checked out my little bed, discovered the "little fridge" which was quickly turned from a mini bar, into my own personal snack bar, I could reach all the light switches, got in and out of the bath several times, checked out the toilet, made the alarm clock do "magic music" and commandeered the remote for the telly. Daddy even made "green magic" when he put a special card in the door - I was in heaven and ran from one activity to the next with squealy noises.
Here I am making sure my carrots are safe before we went for a swim.
There was even a lift for me to play with and I pushed all the right buttons when mummy and daddy told me. On Saturday we all went to "On the Inlet" restaurant for an early dinner, I sat up in my own special chair and the pretty girls gave me crayons and paper to do drawings. Here I am, walking daddy to the car.
I slept well in my special little bed but woke up at about 5am (much to daddy's delight) I was full of beans and very excited to find myself still in the hotel with all the new things to play with, I made a bee line to the "little fridge" to grab an apple, and made sure I turned all the lights on and the telly. I then launched myself onto the bed next to daddy for a cuddle 'cause he was "schweeping"
Enough of that now daddy! It's play time!
At 7 we all went down and had a fantastic breakfast, I ate sooooo much fruit, all with a grown up spoon and I did very well too! We packed up our room and went down to check out, and they had a big white "quack quack" (all birds are quack quacks can't you know?) I just loved him and wanted to get very close to him. He made a big noise and I didn't even cry even though I got a huge fright.
The hotel is all open and the rooms are set around a big garden. There are beautiful ponds and little waterways all along the paths which end up at the main pool. The waterlillies were flowering and were gorgeous.

this is the big pool at the end where we swam, it curves around and at the end, there is a big rock waterfall. On the left hand side where the people are, is where we had our breakfast. It's such a beautiful, relaxing place to stay and I can't wait until we come back again.

In other news, mummy made me some ice blocks and she is flat out trying to keep up with demand - I loooovvvee them!! We are catching up with Scott tonight who arrived back from the UK on Friday! Our BBQ on Saturday morning was fantastic, I got into the lagoon pool, lucky mummy had a dress on and was able to follow me in. My nappy ended up weighing about 15kg though so we'll be doing swim nappys from now on. It is getting really really hot now so from next week we'll all be in the lagoon pool and just get out to eat :) I saw another helicopter and just about jumped out of my skin when I heard it coming. I hope you all got lucky for the Melbourne Cup, mummy was very busy and had no time to think about horses, but met daddy at the base in the afternoon where they had a bit of a "do". I think that's about all for now, I hope you are all happy and well, Love and hugs and "green magic" from Kylin. xoxoxo

R.I.P. my friend

I have recieved news yesterday that one of my friends from bowling, commited suicide on Friday night. We sat with him and his two team mates on Friday as we bowled, and hardly stopped laughing, he blew kisses to Kylin as we left, he was in his late 60s, and a real clown. I have no details, I just hope it was quick for him, so whatever made him suffer and make this decision, didn't make it physically painfull as well. Rest In Peace Con - Kylin and I will miss you. xx

OOOPPPSS!!

I did it again:
(copied from goldpin lanes website)
Star Bowler for Game
Karen Casey
52 pins over average with 167 game
Star Bowler for Series
Karen Casey
108 pins over average with 453 series

( a series is the total of your three games played that day)
There are much better bowlers in our league but I am improving so much that I have now got 3 bowler of the week awards for an outstanding day where I scored way over my average - mind you, my average score is what the others achieve on a bad day - still - I am stoked I am improving so quickly. :)

It's time to go....................Speedy!!

Poor old speedy has reached it's retirement and has been traded in for a Subaru Forrester X. For those of you who never had the pleasure, Speedy is a dark blue, 5sp manual, 5 litre, VR series II SS commodore. Such a fun car to drive, but unfortunately, starting to need a bit of work. We pick up our new car (as yet un-named) on Tuesday! We got it in silver/black as shown above. It has heaps of safety features which sold me on it, (although I haven't driven it yet as when it appeared here yesterday I was all wet and dirty from gardening). Damian has driven it of course, and loved it immediately. We got a good price for speedy (the low Ks really helped) and although we would have got more privately, we are in a really closed market in Cairns and the demand for V8s while petrol prices are so high, is minimal. It also was due for some fairly full on engine work, windscreen and tyres so we sold it at a good time.
Here is one they prepared earlier.........
We are heading for a weekend in Port in a couple of weeks so it will be a good chance to play with all the cool stuff in it and test it out over a decent distance. Kylin hasn't seen it yet so it'll be cool to see his reaction, he will have more visibility in this car too. We will all miss the sound of speedy, it really was a lush car - but it's going to be sooo much fun in the new one, it's very exciting!!

[to Burt Johnson's servant] Are you sure you want to be a nightclub comic?

Arthur: Oh stay with me Hobson. You know I hate to be alone.
Hobson: Yes, bathing is a very lonely business.
Arthur: Except for fish.
Hobson: Pardon? Did you say "except for fish"?
Arthur: Yes... fish all bath together. Though they do tend to eat one another. I often think... fish must get awful tired of seafood. What are you thoughts Hobson?

Bed, Bathurst, & BBQ

Hello everyone, gosh I've been sooo busy lately!
This is a picture of my new bed. Mummy dropped the base of it to floor level, then sat it up on my drawers, bookcase and desk. Then she put mesh material across the top (so I didn't stand up and put my hands in the fan) and made some curtains to go across the front (I picked out the material, it has rainbow stars on it) It was one meter off the ground and was like sleeping in a little tent. I had a little light on the bed head and there was a little bucket for my bottle that I could pull up on a rope when I woke up.
(The curtains were not finished off here) As you can see, I just LOVED it. Curtains were opened and closed for hours on end, I flopped and bounced around like a demented bunny, the whole thing was just too exciting! That afternoon, my brand new mattress arrived as well. I kept peering over the side going "oooohhhh" and squeeling with delight.
But wait, there was more!! Because my bed was off the ground, it meant that I had a fab little cubby house underneath. Mummy had put in some push lights, which I quickly got the hang of, and there were glow in the dark stars and everything. I had some little bean bag cushions and my favorite books and dinosaurs under there, it was all just too much fun.
The whole idea was a huge hit but Mummy and Daddy got a bit worried about me being up so high and decided that I was a bit little yet - so Mummy put my bed back the way it was and now I have a normal bed. I love it too, and when I get a bit bigger, I can have my adventure bed back again.

For those of you who know him, Dave Rennie was in town recently and he came over for a barbie with Mark. It was really nice to see him again, daddy sees him at work sometimes but mummy hadn't seen him for 4 years. We all had a fab night, and the boys were sensible (being a school night) and went home before being enticed with more wine.

We had a spur of the moment Bathurst this year, Mark came over with enough salads to last us all through the current millenium, and Daddy set up both slot car sets, joining them together to make a giant track in the loungeroom. I was very good and took big steps over it so I didn't step on the track. Daddy let me have a go at the buttons that made the cars go, I went flat out and went ballistic when the cars crashed and rolled off. (There was lots of "ooohhh deeeaaarrr" )

We have continued to do our BBQ breakkies every Saturday morning, and the group is getting bigger and bigger every week. Here I am, manning the tap, and helping Mark to wash his chopping board - I am a very good helper.
We saw 2 helicopters this time, and the kids all went mental (some of the adults too) We can see them coming from the airport so there is lots of excitement when someone spots one.
Well I hope you are all happy and well, I have started potty training so wish me luck, I am doing really well and mummy hopes to be able to leave the house sometime soon :) Love and hugs - Kylin Jett. xoxoxo

New Wed Twidicle

Mummy and Daddy took me to the toy shop on the weekend and look what they brought me!! I can't quite work the pedals yet, but if someone pushes me, I keep my feet on them so it won't be long before I work it out.
this is my cheeky face! I love my new tricycle I run to find it whenever I get out of bed and zoom around the house on it terrorizing the cat and skishing mummy's toes :)
Love from Kylin. x

It's been a while :)

Hello everyone, well, mummy has been quite unwell, so we haven't been able to post for a while, sorry!
Let's start with a pic of me with a GIANT tweety that poitre & deb sent me, I just luuuuuvvvveee " teeetey" so much, he is bigger than I am! We have started a Saturday ritual of getting up early and meeting some of our friends for a breakfast BBQ on the esplinade - last sat was our first week and we all loved it so much we are going to do it every week we can. This is a photo of Erin who lives across the road and her daddy Rick.
When I saw Vanessa and Ryan arrive (who also live across the road) I ran up and muscled my way between them so I could hold hands.
We were supposed to be feeding the seagulls but I ate my bread!!
Ryan wanted to feed my mummy!

Here's Daddy, Rick and our new friend Mark doing the boy thing at the Barbies.

(note the flash picnic set in the foreground) I had my breakfast with Erin and Ryan on our own special rug.
We were right beside the helicopter landing pad and we got to see two helicopters land and take off while we were there - I was soooo excited and scared all at once. It was ace.
Mummy and I were playing ' Humpty dumpty' off the wall. I had the best time and crashed out in the car on the way home.
We are doing it all again tomorrow and have invited Filiz, Richard and their kids to join us too, Shane, Marisol and Jazz have a wedding so maybe they can come next week.

We send our love and hugs to you all and hope you are all happy and well.

Kylin xoxoxoxo
